Hi Cori -- Thanks for your comment. With four judges, it does take some time for each of us to read through the dozens of short stories that are submitted every year. We know that authors and their friends and family are eager to know who won, and we do our best to get through all the stories in the timely fashion, but we also want to make sure that we give each story the time and attention that it deserves. You wouldn't want us just skimming your story, would you?

And, after everything's been read, we read the top stories several more times, because the judges never agree right off the bat, and we argue and debate over which one will take the top prize.

Rest assured that we are almost ready to announce, however. We'll celebrate the winner both on this website, in the Brandon Sun, and at the Words Alive festival this weekend.
